Profiles of Trustees
Peter Cavan is a local businessman with interests in Dublin and Belfast. He has held office on the committees of many institutions and has had many years of experience in producing and presenting literary programmes, along with serving on the committee of the Circle Theatre.
Harry Montgomery (Hon. Secretary)
Harry Montgomery is a former teacher and administrator. He trained in drama and acted with the Lyric Theatre, Belfast, before spending a year in Canada with a professional theatre group. He has played a wide range of parts with amateur companies, with some success in Festivals, as well as directing a number of the Circle Theatre productions.
Dorothy Wiley (Hon. Treasurer)
Dorothy Wiley is a retired Drama lecturer who has directed numerous student productions over the years. She has served on a number of committees of local drama groups. Dorothy has also played many varied parts for amateur companies with great success in Drama Festivals and is still involved in acting on the circuit.
Gayna Beresford is a retired Special Needs teacher and has had a keen interest in Drama since her university days in the early 1970's. She is an active member of her local Amateur Theatre Group both on and backstage and currently serves on a Drama Festival committee. She has always encouraged children and young people in Theatre in all its fullness.
Margaret McClelland studied English and Psychology at university before entering the teaching profession. She was responsible for establishing the Drama Department at Victoria College, Belfast, and designing the Drama Studio there. For several years, she was an executive member of Ulster Drama - an organisation dedicated to raising the profile of drama in education. In amateur drama, Margaret achieved considerable success on the Festival circuit and was closely involved in setting up the South Bank Playhouse, now one of Belfast's foremost amateur theatre companies.
Alan Marshall has been involved with drama for over forty years, starting with Londonderry Light Opera Society as a schoolboy. Mainly known as a designer he has won many awards for both drama and light opera. He was awarded an Arts Council Bursary to attend a course in Set Design at RADA. Notable achievement were designing the Irish Premiere of "Titanic the Musical" and a production of "Translations" for the Romanian National Theatre. He is also a director and produced "A Little Something for the Ducks" that represented Northern Ireland at the British Finals.
